Are Smart Machines the Future of “Human” Capital?
Increasingly sophisticated automation technology and artificial intelligence are having greater and greater effects, and more and more prevalence in the business world.
While some people are framing the discussion on the potential for automation processes and artificial intelligence to take over certain jobs, that’s not the whole picture. Under the surface, there is a much more nuanced issue related to the collaboration or interaction between humans and machines, rather than human vs. machine.
The important thing to consider then, is where the actual human capital adds significant value, and where the artificial intelligence and data add value such that the humans should “get out of the way”

Be More Productive and Get More Done
It’s human nature to get distracted, and getting distracted means you get less done. When that is added to the fact that the average worker spends 13 hours per week on email related tasks, and more on unproductive meetings, it’s a wonder that anything gets accomplished.
People want to be productive in an efficient manner, so articles with “hacks” to productivity are always popular. Some of the best and most effective scientific productivity “hacks” are outlined in an article by Lindsey Kolowich from Hubspot.
Some of the tips seem obvious in theory, like “Just Get Started” but may be less obvious in practice. Others, like “Work In Sprints” may not have occurred to most people at all. Other hints, like developing productivity rituals can be helpful in both business and daily life.
